Christina Akerson creates work that resonates impressionism but finds harmony with abstract composition and modern color fields. Brushwork is loose and “blobby” as she puts it, allowing shapes to have room for interpretation. The figures in regards to their scene are united in a way that make them dependent on each other to complete the image. Figure and Scene are almost one and the same because of the light that they share, encouraging story and perhaps, even memory.

Christina Akerson, Fine Artist

In her InkScapes she discovers truth in the energy of colors. By  channelling their energies, she'll push one color back and pull others forward, over and over again creating a dance. The quick decisions keep her on her toes, where she feels she is in performance mode, breathless, essentially bringing her back to her formal training as a singer.

Born and raised in Monterey County California, she grew up surrounded by art galleries of  international acclaim in a locale favored by many famous painters.

Although she drew and painted from a young age winning local art competitions, it was during college she decided to let her paints dry a little to pursue a career in Opera and Musical Theater. She graduated from UCLA and the Manhattan School of Music with full music scholarships in Opera. After two National Tours, leads in Opera and acting appearances on Disney and NBC, she has returned to her painting roots with much more life at her fingertips.
